Not really a fan of XML serialization in general, and I'm not too impressed with XStream overall either. Would rather use some simple JSON serialization. Probably will use JsonBeans for this.

A bit less of a concern now after b26e0ec since the configuration format is much more likely to change over time then the run format is.
